Beth (the CliffsNotes Version!)
I grew up in Kilgore, Texas, a small town in East Texas once considered the world’s richest acre because of the oil produced on one acre downtown. There were so many oil pumps in my hometown that every night their gentle hum lulled me to sleep.
In 2005, my husband, children and I said goodbye to our family in Texas, and drove 2200 miles to our new home in Oregon. In 2010, we moved back to East Texas to be near family.
Now, when I’m not fulfilling the demands of being a wife and home-schooling mom, I'm working on novels and proposals. As an avid reader from an early age, I longed to write novels one day. My first novel, Seasons of Love, released with Heartsong Presents in 2007. Then in 2009, Cranberry Hearts, a three-in-one collection featuring Seasons of Love, and Christmas Homecoming, a four-in-one novella collection featuring my novella, O Christmas Tree, were both released with Barbour Publishing. This year (2010) I have three novels releasing with Heartsong Presents, Disarming Andi, Exposing Amber, and Praying for Rayne--all set in North Dakota. In the fall, Riverwalk Christmas and The Camera Never Lies--a romantic mystery and my first trade paperback--release in December.

My love of fiction was kindled at a young age. I remember my third grade teacher reading Mrs. Piggle Wiggle to the class—such a beloved and zany story—I couldn’t wait to share it with my children. Only two years later I tackled two adult novels: 2001 A Space Odyssey (admittedly it took five tries before I made it through) and The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. From that moment on, I chose to read in every spare moment I had, gobbling up many books during summer vacation, reading some of them again.

At one time my two favorite genres were historical and fantasy. You may ask what these two genres have in common. The answer: they both whisk us away from the here and now.
My first venture into Christian fiction, as a reader, began with Frank Peretti’s Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness. I also enjoyed Bodie Thoene’s Zion Covenant Series. To date, I have two all-time favorites: Francine River’s Mark of the Lion Series and Stephen Lawhead’s Song of Albion.
Mostly, I just love a good story, especially if that story includes deep spiritual truth along with suspense, action and adventure. And it’s my goal to write what I’d love to read.
